Local Church Installs World Class Pipe Organ
Hi Mr. Jenkins,
I happened across your blog quite by accident as I was searching for an interpretation of the poem by Jane Shore called “Who Knows One”. I am not certain, but I am 99% sure that I last met you when you were 6 months old. I believe that I knew your mother. Assuming, of course, that her maiden name was Jeanne O’Reilley and that she lived in Lake Park Florida in the late 60s and early to mid 70s. We both attended Riviera Beach High School, which was renamed Suncoast High School in 1971. Anyway, if I am correct, and if you may be interested to contact me, then by all means do so. You can reach me via my email address or by my phone which is xxx-xxx-xxxx.
While perusing your blog I came across an article which I enjoyed regarding the organ which was installed at Grace Episcopal church.
If I have made a faulty assumption regarding your background, then please forgive me.
Cheers!

OOOopppss…… I am not sure why I left you with my mobile phone number, which I seldom use.
If you would like please ring me at my landline which is xxx-xxx-xxxx.
Sorry for my mistake.
Cheers,
Mark.

Also, I used to have the soundtrack to the movie the Secret of Roan Inish – I know Emily liked this movie as well (about a selkie) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_of_Roan_Inish

Mark thought that you probably were familiar with this movie as well. He and Emily both have access to this music, I believe.

Yes please. I am a Christian Marclay fan, but I hadn’t heard about this yet.

Love & hugs to all!

Cynthia mentioned how she appreciates it when you reach out to the California Jenkins fam. Things are going pretty well out here. As well as can be expected. I am guardedly hopeful about the long term, but you never now. Love from Uncle Steve

glad to be home
I’ve ordered Bob Woodward’s book. I figured that, with Amazon’s pre-order price guarantee, there’s no reason to wait to order it. I’ll get the lowest price they have had for it leading up to the afternoon of the day on which it’s published.
I made a note in my calendar a few days before it’s to be published to check and see what I’m likely going to have to pay for it and then decide whether or not I want to pay that much…
Looking forward to seeing you…

My itchiness is improving. The higher does of steroids seems to affect it. Also my rosacea (the permanent redness in my face) has lightened up considerably, along with a patch on my ankle (the one I hurt this year). Weirdly, my ankle seems to have strengthened. It was weaker before as result of the injury. I love you, too!

I got it bad (and that ain't good)
Meant to say when I read this that I think you are right – your congregation (and probably most congregations) really won’t care if you play “real” repertoire, or improvisations, and they might perhaps not even notice the difference – so in your case, it totally makes sense to go for improvs on a regular basis, and just work up some rep when you are feeling inclined, for special occasions. I hope this is a good plan for you!

Yeah, I talked to Jen about this on Wednesday. She said that she thought people enjoyed the return of my improvs and approved of this new idea.

Excited that you are reading the book! I just bought it for my brother too, but haven’t had time to read it yet, so I’ll be interested in hearing about it from you, and maybe I’ll check it out when you are done with it! 🙂

I have been wanting to read the Chinen book for a while, but I have a few to get through first. I am very interested in your opinion of this book, so let me know what you think.

So far I basically love it! It talks about so many musicians, many of whom I’ve never heard of. Very cool.

They used that same quote in the NPR story on the book that I heard, and I wrote it down too. I loved the idea!

That’s kind of wild since it basically buried in the book.

I didn’t see you either. I enjoyed it. I think I understood the Chopin piece the best. I was impressed by the skills of the dancers and choreography.
