  • From Sarah on jupe's low morale

I love you! Also feeling a bit blah over here. Sorry they had you wear a beanie… I still don’t get why they didn’t have a kid play your part anyway.

    • From jupiterj on jupe's low morale

I love you. Luckily I don’t care much about the beanie. I think that they couldn’t find a kid to sing the tune to Piano Man.

  • From Rhonda Edgington on jupe's low morale

That is a rough gig… Luckily you have two of your favorite Holland musicians coming over for tea on Monday afternoon to cheer you up! 🙂

    • From jupiterj on jupe's low morale

True that. You and Jordan are definitely my favorite Holland musicians. But since that’s a low bar, you guys are much more than that plus you’re fun to talk to. I’m looking forward to it. I’m already cheered up a bit. Thank you!

  • From Nancy E. Wood on too close?

Oh my — whatta find! This is absolutely brilliant! It’s a real pleasure to read this excellent commentary — you are a treasure, Mr. Jenkins! This is the first time I’ve seen your site, and I reeeeally like your style and your way… I feel as though I’ve spent a thoroughly satisfying and always-eagerly-anticipated visit with a scholarly (and musical, and word-smithy and lovely friend)! Thanks so much…

    • From jupiterj on feeling much better

I think we should dress that way as a father-son team. Jes sayin.

      • From David on feeling much better

  • From Elizabeth on cancer, likewar, and pots

    That copper is beautiful.

    • From jupiterj on cancer, likewar, and pots

I think so too. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to clean them up.

  • From Elizabeth on morning in Holland Michigan

Thanks for the updates love you

  • From Elizabeth Jenkins on friday morning.... nothing to report yet about surgery

I love you. Breaking cello strings makes me think of the unplayed violin upstairs and also Nicholas’ constant guitar practicing. He’s doing weekly lessons (2 so far) and seems to really love it. I don’t recognize everything he’s working on but he has been playing some White Stripes. hehe….Love you

  • From Jordan on yesterday's gig

Not that this was a regular occurrence, but if it ever happens again, feel free to give me a call. I’d be happy to play one of these gigs with you.

    • From jupiterj on yesterday's gig

Good thought! It was very last minute (2 hour lead time with a meeting with Jen scheduled for part of this time). I will definitely remember you are willing and able. Hope things are going well for you!

  • From Cindy Cosway on life goes on

  • From Mark on feeling relieved on Wednesday afternoon

Hey… pass along links to the Burgess interviews… thanks

  • From Cindy Cosway on feeling rested and relieved

YAY! Positive news is welcomed. Keep it coming!

  • From Barb on a day well spent

I love Camille Paglia. I have followed her for years. I love how she thinks!!!

    • From jupiterj on a day well spent

Cool! Have you read her on essays (Vamps and Tramps) and/or poetry commentary (Break, Blow, Burn: Camille Paglia Reads Forty-three of the World’s Best Poems)? These are two I am familiar with. I think I have also read in her book on sexuality, Sexual Personae, but I can’t lay my hands on it so maybe not.

      • From Barb on a day well spent

I have her “Free Women Free Men” book which is a collection of essays. I have the audio version of her book “Sexual Personae”. It’s hard to listen to it in the car while driving. I need to get back to it. I have watched several YouTube videos of her either in a lecture setting or in interviews. I had my first taste of her when she wrote an op-ed on date rape. Her view of women not taking responsibility for their own sexual encounters and infantilizing themselves was a huge moment for me. Anyway… nice to know someone else in my orbit actually likes her.

  • From Sarah on waiting for another phone call

I particularly like the fact that the link to the article about hacking the American mind and consumerism is riddled with garish ads for useless products and services.
