The disagreements are civil? Who knew this was possible! Just kidding. So much love. I definitely vote non-partison (almost exclusively).

Excellent. I will let you know what I need on it soon and you can mess around with it. I promised my boss I would have posters ready a week from tomorrow.

I read your blog daily but would guess that my number isn’t showing up since, more often than not, I just read the email that I get from an RSS feed that I have for your site.
Just sayin…

While I’m normally a helpful person, I do find I have a short fuse for those that disrupt others, while they are in their own world/illness/whatever. It’s an odd sensation for me. I want to help & typically do things for others on a regular basis. However, when it comes to folks that are overly abrasive in a place that they probably shouldn’t be, I turn quite cold, and instantly. I’ve struggled internally the past decade with the issue of what to do with our mentally ill/unstable folks. Many homeless/drunk/drugged folks have underlying issues- and the resources for them & their issues are way too few. It’s difficult that there isn’t a better answer readily available.

Did I miss your opening concert on the organ? I thought it was later in the month… I’m sorry if so! I kept meaning to look somewhere and check the date, because I didn’t have it written down anywhere. It would have been tricky for me anyway, I had a practice hike for the AT with the group from church I’m going with in a week (did I mention this? nutty little mid-life try at something completely different…) Anyway, next time, you should tell the local AGO folks about this. Email Paul or I, and we will send something out. People besides me are interested too, and this organization is pretty much pointless (in my opinion), if at the least we aren’t aware of what’s going on locally and supporting each other. I’d have been there, if I’d have known and could have made it work! Glad you felt like it went well.

You’re right. I should have done an AGO mailing. It would help me if Paul didn’t do blind emails on those things. Don’t we all know each other’s email anyway via the directory? Anyway, this was totally my responsibility. I did send out a press release to the Sentinel (which they seemed to have ignored entirely) and post it on Facelessbook. I know that most of our members don’t connect to Facebook. Brian Carder was there so somehow he found out, probably from Facebook. Linda Fulton was there as well. It was good concert and I’m sorry you didn’t have the option to attend. I try not to pay too much attention to that sort of thing. I did miss you but figured I can’t always attend your recitals and the same has to be true for you. I’ll do better about this next time.

Thanks for sharing the recording. Even as a bootleg, pretty listenable. It sounded like a fun program. Love you!

I love you, too! My teacher, Ray Ferguson, used to say he preferred not to be recorded. He liked the idea that his music just kept floating away into the ether.
For my part, I figured out that recording is itself an art and not one that interests me that much. If people want to record me, fine, as long as I don’t have to listen to it.
It has crossed my mind to hire Jonathon Fegel to help me with recording sometime (at church). Mark says we should serious consider permanently installing a good recording set up.
We just purchased a new sound system. I know it’s set up to eventually house video taping the service. But I don’t know much about the system other than it’s working very well right now and is very unobtrusive. Both Jen and I were speaking into microphones at the recital.
It was fun doing that recital and also doing the commentary.

vacation begins in earnest
I have a subscription to the New Yorker magazine that runs out in 2018. There are multiple back issues lying around you are welcome to read or take if you like. First united Methodist is where the kids went to pre school. It’s right over by Riverside Community College and the Presbyterian church we got married in (not to far from where we lived in Riverside and currently about 15 miles away) so you should be able to get some time in on the organ if you choose. See you tonight.

I had to switch from single vision glasses to progressive lenses late last year. There are 3 tiers to look out of depending on close reading, arm’s length or distance. It was certainly an adjustment. But I do find that after 6 months or so, I am tilting my head less & simply moving my eyes to the part of the lens I need for the task at hand. I hope you adjust to yours quickly!

I admit that I have been taking my glasses off for reading and computer work. But they do help with anything more than a few feet away, so driving is definitely improved.

on to grayling
Talk with Leigh about glasses when we get up to Grayling. I think she has about three different ones. One for reading, one for playing piano and one for everything else. I could be wrong about that. Of course, she also has cataracts which makes everything less than optimal. I’m hoping she will take care of that before we lose our health insurance…

#TicksSuck . (stupid pun moment) Our dog was bitten by a tick that transmitted a bacterial infection to him that has rendered him completely blind. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine). We take him for a follow up visit to the Animal Eye Institute on Friday, but our expectations are low. I’ll probably post something on Friday when we know more. Poor old dog. The ticks are really high in numbers right now & carry a variety of nasty diseases. I love living in the woods, but I’m not a fan of ALL of God’s creatures.

Sorry to hear about your dog. My brother’s dog was diagnosed with Lime’s disease but has not presented symptoms. They vaccinate her annually and give her meds that kill any ticks that bite her. What a mess with the ticks, eh? We are finding one or two a day. Eileen kills them with cellophane tape by putting them on the tape, folding it, and suffocating them.
